Welcome – Get Connected – News – Join Harvest Glasgow Launch Team
With a launch date of 16 August 2009 these are exciting times for us here at Harvest Glasgow. A church is growing in front of our eyes with people gifted by God for a variety of ministries who all share the same passions, priorities, pursuit and prayer. The shared desire is that God would glorify His name in the city we call home, that He would deepen our relationship with Him and broaden our impact with the Gospel so that lives would be transformed.
As you have browsed our website or been invited to our Open House on 20 April our prayer is that God would be firing up within you that same passion, priority, pursuit and prayer. We believe that God is drawing together a group of worshippers who love His Word at this time, in this city, for His glory. Could it be that He is calling you to be part of this work? Could it be that He is stirring your heart for this very purpose that He might use you to serve His glory in this local church?
As we seek from the outset to care for your soul, as an expression that we desire God's best for you, before committing we would encourage you to ask yourself, 'am I...'
Fully aligned with Harvest Glasgow's mission, vision, values and distinctives.
Do the 4 pillars, the emphasis on small group, intentional discipleship and the idea of woshipping Christ, walking with Christ and working for Christ resonate with you. Are you coming to have those things built into your life?
Willing to submit to the leadership.
The leadership of Harvest Glasgow will strive to pursue leadership of this local church in a way that is obedient to God's Word, with character consistent with the calling in God's Word in order to serve your walk with God by His Word. It may be that sometimes you will not agree with decisions that will be made- are you willing to follow, support and speak well of the leadership?
Coming for the right reasons
People may come to a church plant for a number of reasons. Here are some reasons that will not serve your walk with God or this local church:
To get more control and responsibility in a church
To run away from difficulties in your current church
Expecting to come on staff at HBC down the road
Ready, to the best of your ability, to make a healthy church transition.
We would ask you if you are leaving another local church to come to Harvest Glasgow that you do so having endeavoured to finish well there. Tell the leadership of your current church what you are going to do. Ask for their blessing and prayer support. Within reason, fulfill your previously made commitments and after leaving, speak well of your former church.
Prepared for the constant change of church planting (flexibility).
Church planting does not provide the routine, comforts and predictability of a large established church. Are you ready to be FAT (Flexible, Available, Teachable).
Coming, aware that sacrifice will be the norm – not the exception.
We will not have the facilities, or some of the ministries of a more established church at the beginning. God will honor your sacrifice and abundantly bless you and your family despite the absence of these comforts. It is crucial that you know these things will not be available immediately.
Aware and committed to prepare for spiritual warfare.
As a church we are committed to making an impact in the city with the Gospel with the goal of life transformation to the glory of God. This will not go unopposed. Spiritual warfare is real and church planting is a direct and strategic assault against Satan and the kingdom of darkness. We must be vigilant to put on the full armor of God and cover everything we do in prayer.
Committed to financially support the vision with your income.
The church is funded by God’s people supporting the work. Giving generously to the work of the church is the New Testament norm. Your heart follows your treasure.
Excited at the prospect of being able, 20 years down the line, to marvel at what God has done from such beginnings.
We would love to connect with you and explore with you what it mean and what it involves to be part of the launch team and to rejoice that God in His goodness is stirring hearts to gather together to make an impact as we pursue His glory together. There will be an opportunity to commit to being part of the launch team of Harvest Glasgow at the Open House on the 20th April. You can also pursue being part of the launch team by contacting us at
